~ Grand Final Day: Saturday 10th September ~

Happy Friday Blazians! Aaaaaand haven’t the heavens opened!!!! Please see below times for the Grand Final matches, Prelim results from last weekend, a reminder about Umpires and Fair-Go, and reminder of the Blaze End of Year Function date. Blaze is represented tomorrow, with the U14’s completing the season with one last derby, and our U16/17 Orange team making a birth in the another Junior GF.

We also need canteen volunteers tomorrow please, as all clubs involved in finals are covering times throughout the day. We need:
- 8:15 for the U14 match
- 1:30-2:30pm during a Senior Match.

- 9:30am : U11 cohort
- 11:30am : U16/17 EGC Gold vs Blaze ORANGE
- 1:00pm : Women EGC Gold vs Grampians
- 3:00pm : Men EGC Gold vs SOBHC

~ Preliminary Finals Results ~
- U14: Blaze ORANGE d Bobcats, drawn-match, highest team promoted after 30mins extra time.
- U16/17: Blaze ORANGE d Blaze BLACK 3 – 2 in extra time
- Women: Grampians d Blaze ORANGE 1 – 0 extra time
- Men: SOBHC d Bobcats

~ Umpires: Without them, There is NO Game ~
Umpires have a hard job, as their ultimate aim is to ensure you are playing the Rules of Hockey in a safe and friendly environment. More often than not umpires make fewer mistakes than players, but they are never rewarded for the 9/10 correct decisions, yet denigrated for the 1/10 mistakes they may have made.

We are very lucky at Blaze that we have the greatest number of umpires from any-one club in Hockey Ballarat involved in officiating Hockey Ballarat competitions. Like players, umpires get nervous, and this will be no different this weekend during the Grand Finals. Let’s continue to show the Blaze spirit of inclusion of everyone in a safe and friendly club environment and support our umpires in their endeavours this weekend.
